Saved by Grace/Poem

Saved by Grace
I am a sinner who has been saved by grace, and I do not deserve to be free. God already knew I was guilty, and still He reached out to me.

All my life I lived in darkness, with a life that was filled with sin. God led me to that rugged cross, where I could be born again.

So many times that call would come, yet the message was not heard. The darkness clouded my thinking, and I refused to believe His word.

One day when I lost all hope, there was no place left to run. I turned and faced that rugged cross, and there I met God’s Son.

Soon I began to read what was written, and inside I began to cry. There I discovered I could live forever and never have to die.

I lifted my eyes to the Lamb of God, and offered to Him my all. My eyes became clear; my ears were opened, as I finally heard His call.

I asked Him to forgive my sins, as the darkness began to part. Inside I felt a love so real, as His Spirit entered my heart.

Now I knew that I was different, and that I was free at last. For on the day I left that rugged cross, I crucified my past.
